Scholarship Opportunities

Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards: Honors Latino high school students who excel academically. Eight National Youth Awardees are honored each year in the following categories: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community service, Education, Engineering & Mathematics, Healthcare, Innovation & Technology, Media & Entertainment, and Sports & Fitness. 

 

Academy of Achievement: A unique non-profit that brings young people into direct contact with preeminent leaders. This website includes a collection of biographies, interviews, symposiums, podcasts, and photographs of important leaders for students to explore. 

 

La Raza Youth Scholarships: La Raza is a Denver-based non-profit that provides assistance to low-income, Latino community members. La Raza offers scholarships for Latino youth. Check this link periodically for scholarship opportunities. 

 

Asfaw Family Foundation International: To qualify for this scholarship, a student must: be a Colorado resident; an African-American male high school senior; have a GPA of at least 2.5; be involved in the community; and have a career goal to make a difference in the quality of life for others and his community.

Financial Planning Tools

Education Cents Program:  An interactive website your student or student's family might find useful. The site includes a self-paced curriculum, workbooks and presentations to provide personal finance education. Finance includes managing a budget, credit and debt, and college financing.    

 

Venture Scholars Program:  A national nonprofit membership program that targets high achieving underrepresented students and first-generation college-bound students. Membership provides a variety of resources that will help them learn about college and career planning.
